The main theme behind lifestyle photography is capturing scenes from everyday life. It’s those tender moments shared with your partner, the stories and laughter, the spontaneous dancing while making dinner, the handholding as you make your way through your neighborhood. There’s an element to lifestyle photography that is directed by the photographer. This typically means the photographer sets the scene using the surroundings, the lighting (natural or artificial) and gives the subject a set of actions or movements to work through.
Candid photography means that the subject is not expecting a photo to be taken with a count down or prompt by the photographer to get ready. It’s taken with the intention of capturing how a subject is experiencing life at that moment. It can be absolutely pure magic when done right.
Environmental photography is mainly about location in that its showcases both the subject and the scene around them. Often taking place outdoors, it’s your favorite hiking trail, or the first ice cream parlor you visited, it’s that street you first held hands on, and its that large oak tree you sat under and had your first picnic together.
Depending on you and your story, our approach to photography combines all three styles as we work together to create something beautiful.
